I haven’t visited or posted to this blog in quite some time – 11 months to be exact. I tried to access a few links like the Hurricane Katrina Fact Sheet from Barack Obama’s website. Of course, it is 404. How soon we forget?

I stopped reading after this line, “Amount spent by FEMA to date on operating expenses, including salaries and expense accounts: $6 billion”

Pissed Off. Even though I’ve discovered that there are new banking rules in the State of Louisiana after Katrina. I read this, too. And this, “The LA BEOC supports the coordination of activities and resources of businesses and volunteer organizations in Louisiana and across the nation to improve response and self-sufficiency, reduce reliance on FEMA and other federal assistance in order to maximize business, industry and economic stabilization, returning the business environment to normal operations as quickly as possible.”

There is is….

That N word again.

I liked the idea of Louisiana telling off FEMA. Even if it is subliminally & metaphorical, “reduce reliance on FEMA”.

I’ve missed my Louisiana blogs….
I’ll be dipped if we are not back to a Presidential Propaganda year.

The blog states further, "This is one of the better pieces of intel I have yet to see." Guess he didn't read Louisiana Questions or see my tags, "Clueless Katrina Comments" or "Media Oversight". It is certain that he, Deaconmatson, and the author of Disaster Mythology and the Law, Lisa Grow Sun, did not live in Louisiana during Katrina. The blog post is entitled, Disaster Mythology: Your real enemies are not who you think they are…, from Deaconmatson's Blog – observations from America. The article is a late bloomer, the ideas lay withering in the sun, wrinkled, burned, and useless. I skipped to her conclusion, "The true nightmare of Katrina was not the anarchy and violence reported to have consumed the city; rather, it was the painfully slow and often misguided response—spurred in part by the disaster myth of widespread looting and violence—that compounded the suffering of Katrina’s victims and all but guaranteed that disaster would become catastrophe. If we are to avoid that nightmare scenario in future disasters, we must reform both the design and implementation of our disaster laws to avoid the overemphasis on security and law enforcement that the disaster myth encourages." CORNELL LAW REVIEW Vol. 96:1131 2011 Honestly? You have got to be kidding me! I want to know exactly HOW MANY people she interviewed who ACTUALLY went through Katrina. I’m willing to bet ZERO! I would love for people who were not there to just shut up about Katrina. Media included. I’ve never really laughed so hard at Cornell Law. Actually, I did not expect this! rofl

…..b/c the crime rate will go up-i see it already.
…..b/c I can’t call anyone else-landlines suck.
…..b/c a bad situation got worse.
…..b/c the gas is going up.

….b/c I was told that, “Sometimes the little guy *GETS IT* – by a very nice part-time COP”

You really had to ask, why? Must you throw that question in my face? Are you for REAL?

What has changed in five years since Katrina?

People are still free to ask stupid questions. And they do. One Facebook rant included a list of stupid Katrina questions that I appreciated, recently. Stupid questions Katrina peeps endure-rant went something like this……”Why didn’t you evacuate?”, “Is New Orleans still under water?”. Stupid questions people ask, but none worse than,

“Why did you (See August 28th’s post)?” I’m still angry at that statement. This didn’t change.

There is a 2006 study of telecommunications failures published by Lafayette University that I revisited today on the net. It was interesting to re-read the problems that the State Patrol and others had during Katrina. I wonder if these issues were ever addressed. I wonder how many telecommunications businesses have been affected, closed up, created, bankrupt, or improved since Katrina? How many radio stations and tv stations are better prepared? Did anything change?

One change: I increased my personal debt by 3,200% and the US National debt increased, too.

The estimated population of the United States is 309,004,608 so each citizen’s share of this debt is $43,264.60.

It appears that the crime rate has gone up, particularly in 2006; as well as the unemployment rate and the price of everything else.

The media hype during Katrina and its immediate aftermath are superseded by media hype of the flaws in the various systems, organizations and entities established to deal with Katrina. That didn’t fix issues brought forth in the 2005 post Katrina media. It’s like the media covers what it wants to cover, but refuses to follow through to the end of the story…..to the resolution. The media stops mid swing more than enough times to sit on the bench. Katrina hype just snowballs into an oil vat. Maybe, these are bad analogies. The media didn’t change.

QUESTION: Do we need Congress to investigate baseball and steroid use? ANSWER: No.

So why are they wasting my time and money? Congress didn’t change.

One thing is certain. Laura Curtis. A self proclaimed, “New Orleanian” who authored, Go golfing, Mr. President got my attention with that piece. While I do not agree with everything she has written in the article, I have to cheer her on with the point she drove home on August 19th.

If you refuse to enact meaningful reform and continue to attack our economy, then on August 29th, go play some golf, Mr. President.

5 years later, is STILL hate hurricane Katrina.
The fact the Louisiana has racial issues doesn’t account for the WHITE folks who aren’t home, either.
Go figure. That’s Louisiana. That’s NORMAL.

Hurricane Katrina was never about…pet rescue or racism. What?

Amnesty International. And that took 5 years to tell the story? You are waaayyyy to slow. Then there is Mr. DeBerry’s opinion article, which matches the Live Journal Baton Rouge communities tx of my blog posts. (A few really hate me on Live Journal. Okay, so maybe I am a bit of a troll, so what.) The majority of the media thinks and believes Hurricane Katrina to be “all about New Orleans” and “racism” – it wasn’t. Hurricane Katrina was a disaster that affected more than JUST New Orleans and race. That is my main point. DeBerry had another. And that was the fact that outsiders, you know those “come here people”, viewed a few things that occurred during the storm as wrong. All I have to say about that is….. not quite as eloquent or wordy.

Duh.
